Polyoxymethylene (POM) definition: POM is a kind of linear polymer with no side chain, high density and high crystallinity. POM is made of Polyoxymethylene (POM) . According to the different chemical structure of its molecular chain, it can be divided into homopolyformaldehyde and Copolyformaldehyde. The important differences between the two are: HOMOPOLYFORMALDEHYDE has high density, crystallinity, melting point, but poor thermal stability, narrow range of processing temperature (about 10 °c) , slightly lower stability to acid and base, and Copolyformaldehyde has low density, crystallinity, melting point and strength, but the thermal stability is good, not easy to decompose, processing temperature range is wide (about 50 °C) , the acid-base stability is good. It is an engineering plastic with excellent comprehensive properties. Good physical, mechanical and chemical properties, especially excellent friction resistance. Commonly known as steel race or steel, for the third largest general-purpose plastics. Suitable for manufacturing wear-resistant parts, transmission parts, as well as chemicals, instruments and other parts.
POM General Performance Pom Pom Pom is a smooth, shiny hard and dense material, light yellow or white, thin-walled part of translucent. The combustion characteristic is easy to burn, continue to burn after leaving the fire, the upper end of the flame is yellow, the lower end is blue, melting dripping occurs, there is a strong pungent smell of Formaldehyde, fishy smell. Polyformaldehyde is a white powder, generally opaque, good coloring, specific gravity 1.41-1.43 G/CM, molding shrinkage 1.2-3.0% , molding temperature 170-200 °C, drying conditions 80-90 °C for 2 hours. The long-term heat resistance of POM is not good, but it can reach 160 °C in short-term. The short-term heat resistance of homopolymer POM is over 10 °c higher than that of copolymerized POM, but the long-term heat resistance of copolymerized POM is about 10 °c higher than that of homopolymer POM. It can be used in the temperature range of-40 °C ~ 100 °C for a long time. The POM decomposes easily at 240 degrees. The decomposition occurs with irritant and corrosive gases. Therefore, die steel should be made of corrosion-resistant materials.
